  • Do you worry you’re losing it?
  • Are you experiencing nightmares or struggle to sleep even though you’re mentally and physically exhausted?
  • Are you experiencing problems in your relationships?
  • Are you experiencing intrusive memories of past experiences?
  • Are you full of self doubt?
  • Are you detached and indifferent to your feelings and what’s going on in life?
  • Are you feeling intense emotions like anger, anxiety, shame or depression?
  • Are you drinking or using drugs to numb difficulties?
  • Are you going through the motions in life and putting on a front of being ok?
  • Do you find yourself ‘’zoning out’?

If any of these ring true, you may be experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

It’s not easy for people to admit to this; especially people who have been trained to suppress emotions and view these experiences as signs of weakness.

If you are experiencing symptoms of PTSD, you might feel that you cannot admit what is going on, or how you’re feeling to others. You might be worried about information being shared with your GP or people knowing you’ve sought help. You might think that nobody can possibly understand what you’re going through.

This is where Horses & Forces CIC might be able to help. We provide free evidence-based trauma treatment to people who have served in the British Armed Forces via Equine Assisted Therapy and EMDR.  We are a discreet and informal service located in rural South Devon.
